Tribes Sue Over Trump’s Cuts at Indian Schools Without Input (1)

The Trump administration violated federal law by failing to consult with Native American tribes before implementing staffing cuts at Indian schools, a lawsuit filed in federal court by Tribal Nations and Native students says.

The statutes in question say that all actions taken by the Bureau of Indian Education “shall be done with active consultation by the tribes,” and that no policy may be changed or enacted “without consultation with the affected Tribes,” according to the complaint filed March 7 in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
