Ormat Nevada Inc. must be stopped from building its geothermal project in Nevada until a judge decides whether the federal government’s approval was legal, a tribe and environmental group told a federal court in the state.
The company plans to start bulldozing and road construction Jan. 6, the group says. Ormat will then begin work on the first of two powerplants, the group told the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. The construction is imminent and threatens to destroy the site’s “pristine and sacred character” unless the court takes action, according to the Wednesday filing.
