Travelers Must Face Data Breach Suit Over Insurance Quote Tool

The Travelers Indemnity Co. must face a proposed class action alleging it disclosed personal identifying information of prospective customers to cybercriminals through an online tool allowing its agents to generate insurance quotes quickly, a federal court ruled.

Plaintiff Jennifer Rand sufficiently alleged that she suffered concrete injury from the data breach to survive Travelers’ motion to dismiss, Judge Vincent L. Briccetti of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Thursday.
