TransUnion Sued Over July Data Breach Affecting 4 Million People

TransUnion LLC is facing a proposed class action accusing the credit reporting company of failing to protect the personally identifiable information of more than 4 million people that was exposed in a July data breach.

Lead plaintiffs Tina Ihrke and Jo Joaquim alleged in their Thursday complaint that TransUnion failed to implement and maintain reasonable security procedures to protect their personal information, failed to timely notify impacted individuals of the breach, and violated its duties to use reasonable data security measures under the Federal Trade Commission Act.
