TransUnion Sued Over 2022 Data Breach Affecting 200 Million

TransUnion LLC was hit with a class action alleging it failed to protect the personal information of 200 million people who were affected by a 2022 data breach.

Jude Okpala alleged the data breach was the result of TransUnion’s negligent failure to encrypt sensitive information, implement reasonable security measures, carry out adequate analyses and testing of its systems, or properly train its workers.

Information exposed in the breach included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, and drivers license numbers, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
