An Illinois appeals court on Monday rejected an effort to resurrect a class action against TransUnion, affirming a county court’s ruling that the statute of limitations had passed while similar litigation was being fought in federal court.
The matter involving the credit-reporting firm “has a long and winding history,” Justice Cynthia Cobbs wrote in the opinion.
Its roots are in a California federal suit alleging TransUnion inaccurately designated people as criminals or terrorists because their names are similar to those of people on a Treasury Department watch list.
