The Trump administration must allow six suing transgender people to have their preferred gender reflected on their US passports, a federal court ruled Friday.
The administration can’t enforce its policy requiring a person’s sex on their passport to be based their birth certificate with regards to six US residents, Judge Julia E. Kobick said in a memorandum and order. Kobick partially granted the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, ruling they were likely to succeed in their lawsuit.
