Trader Joe’s Fires Back at Labor Union in Trademark Dispute

Trader Joe’s Co. asked a federal trial court to greenlight its trademark infringement claims over merchandise sold online by the union representing some of its employees.

The move comes after the union, Trader Joe’s United, had asked the US District Court for the Central District of California to dismiss the claims in August, arguing that it’s unlikely that any consumer “would be confused as to the origin of the goods” because it states on the union’s homepage, “Trader Joe’s United is an independent labor union” and includes a video featuring several worker organizers.
