The CEO of a biotech company accused of bilking a “Toy Story” screenwriter and his wife out of $38 million says he didn’t know the screenwriter’s claims still existed when the company was acquired in a massive private equity deal.
The court-filed declaration from Sofie CEO Patrick Phelps, and an accompanying motion to toss claims related to boutique law firm Bird Marella, are the most fulsome responses to allegations that Sofie, Big Law firms, and multiple top lawyers covered up threats of legal action during the deal.
