Tom Goldstein Files Slew of Motions Attacking Federal Tax Case

Tom Goldstein, the high-profile US Supreme Court advocate indicted in January on tax-related charges, has filed a flurry of motions aiming to winnow the government’s case against him.

One of the motions filed May 16 asks the US District Court for the District of Maryland to dismiss allegations related to tax evasion charges for 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021. Two of the theories of tax evasion that the prosecution relies on are legally deficient because they don’t allege an affirmative act, so the court should bar them and and strike the related allegations.
