Tiger King’s ‘Joe Exotic’ Gets Year Off in 21-Year Sentence (1)

Joseph Maldonado-Passage, also known as “Joe Exotic” from the Netflix series “Tiger King,” was resentenced to 21 years in prison by a federal judge in Oklahoma on Friday, just one year less than his previous sentence for trying to have a rival killed and other crimes.

Maldonado-Passage was granted a resentencing hearing after successfully arguing that his murder-for-hire counts should be grouped together. The 58-year-old was convicted of wildlife crimes and trying to hire hitmen to kill Carole Baskin, in what the Tenth Circuit described as a “rivalry made in heaven.”
