TIAA Must Face Federal, State Disability Discrimination Claims

A former senior managing director with TIAA Insurance Co. and its subsidiary Nuveen LLC advanced her federal and state law allegations that the companies failed to accommodate her disability.

Danielle Cochran Carnett’s request not to take Covid-19 vaccines because of her multiple, chronic autoimmune conditions couldn’t be established as “frivolous as a matter of law,” said Judge J. Paul Oetken with the US District Court for the Southern District of New York in a Tuesday opinion rejecting the companies’ motion to dismiss that claim.
