Five Unlicensed Contractors Charged in Eaton Fire Zone (3)

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has charged five people with felony unlicensed contracting, saying they targeted survivors of the January Eaton Fire in Altadena.

Local prosecutors announced Thursday they filed criminal complaints against Guillermo Ramirez, Melvin Hairon Mejia Ordonez, Edgar Geovanni Lopez Revolorio, and Daniel and Andrew Escarzaga for unlicensed contracting work on buildings in early October.

Residents rebuilding from the historic wildfire that killed 19 people and destroyed more than 9,000 buildings have been sounding the alarm on construction scams pressuring them to pay large sums for work that is never performed on their properties.
