Thomas Jefferson Health System Faces Class Suit Over Layoffs (1)

A former medical assistant filed a class action lawsuit Tuesday against Thomas Jefferson University and its health system, alleging violation of the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and breach of contract.

The complaint, filed by Ciara Brice in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleges Jefferson Health carried out a mass layoff in November of at least 500 full-time employees, including Brice, without providing the 60 days’ advance written notice required by the WARN Act. The defendants also allegedly failed to pay the promised severance compensation to terminated employees who signed severance agreements. ...
