Theater Chain Defeats Video-Privacy Claims in Web-Tracking Suit

The operator of the Angelika Film Centers movie theater chain defeated two claims of a lawsuit alleging it shared information about the trailer watching histories of its online users with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the federal and state video privacy laws.

Lead plaintiff Haley Berryman failed to show that the operator, Reading International Inc., disclosed her personally identifiable information as defined in the Video Privacy Protection Act, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Thursday.
