Athletic Media Co. is facing a proposed class action by California subscribers, alleging the sports news provider’s automatic renewal practices violate state law.
When subscribers sign up through the Athletic website or on the Athletic app, the company sets them up for automatic renewal of their subscriptions, and automatically charges their credit cards, debit cards, or third party payment accounts when the renewal occurs, the complaint alleges.
