Textron Defeats Class Action Over Disclosure of Info to Google

Textron Inc. escaped a proposed class action alleging it disclosed consumers’ personal information to Google LLC without consent in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act.

The US District Court for the Central District of California lacked jurisdiction over the defense contractor, a corporation headquartered in Rhode Island, because the plaintiff failed to show that the company had purposefully directed its activities towards California, Judge Michelle Williams Court said Wednesday.

Court dismissed the lawsuit but gave lead plaintiff Dino Moody leave to file an amended complaint.
