Texas Wins Appeal Over Denial of Billboard Permits To Ad Agency

The Texas Department of Transportation defeated a lawsuit that accused two of its officials of acting outside their authority when they denied the renewal of outdoor advertisement sign permits, after a ruling by a state court of appeals.

Lamar Advantage Outdoor Co., an advertisement firm, owned three signs in Harrison County. TxDOT sent letters requesting removal of the signs because the permits had expired without renewal. The letters were sent five years after the permits had expired. The company told the agency that it hadn’t received a renewal notice.
