A Texas law banning health care providers from providing gender-affirming care to minors also extends to licensed mental health care providers, Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) said in response to a question from the state agency that regulates therapists.
The 2023 ban applies to anyone with a license that facilitates care in the transition of a child’s sex, Paxton told the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
