Texas Ten Commandments School Display Draws Faith Leader Suit

A group of faith leaders in Texas are challenging a new state law requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom, thrusting Republican leaders into a fight that is playing out in other conservative-led states.

A minister, bishop, reverend, and pastor joined parents in a federal lawsuit alleging the commandment display is “wholly inconsistent with the fundamental religious-freedom principles that upon which our nation was founded.”
