Texas Sues School Refusing to Display Ten Commandments (1)

A Texas school district is refusing to display a copy of the Ten Commandments in classrooms, drawing a lawsuit from the state for violating a statute that’s being challenged as unconstitutional in separate litigation.

Galveston Independent School District declined to put up displays even though it isn’t one of the schools covered by an injunction a federal court granted this summer, Attorney General Ken Paxton’s (R) office alleged in the suit Friday.

“By refusing to follow the law, Galveston ISD chose to both blatantly ignore the Legislature and also ignore the legal and moral heritage of our nation,” Paxton said ...
