Texas Sues Dallas for Closing Theater to Licensed Gun Carrier

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) says the city of Dallas unlawfully stopped a person from bringing a handgun into a theater the city manages.

Grant Walsh, who is licensed to carry a handgun, was twice denied entry to the Majestic Theatre—in February 2023 and February 2024, a lawsuit filed Friday in state court alleges.

The historic performing arts center “does not fall within the description of places where weapons are prohibited,” the complaint, which seeks over $1 million, alleges. Places where weapons are prohibited include schools, correctional facilities, bars, and rooms where government entities meet.
