Texas wants to intervene in a League of Women Voters lawsuit that aims to block the Department of Homeland Security from creating a web of linked data systems from across the government to improve immigration enforcement and carry out other Trump administration priorities.
Without intervening, Texas would have no way to protect its interests in maintaining accurate voter rolls, preventing illegal votes, and ensuring fair and accurate elections, according to the state’s emergency motion filed Oct. 27 in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
