A Texas district court blocked the US Department of Education from enforcing on a local school district its rule that would bar discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in federally funded schools.
The Thursday ruling in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas came on the same day the district court also barred the Department of Education from implementing its new rule—issued in April 2024—on the entire state in Texas v. United States.
