Texas Redistricting Judges Remain Silent as Election Approaches

Three federal judges weighing an injunction request barring changes to Texas’ congressional maps remained silent on the blockbuster redistricting battle Monday, after the window opened for House candidates to declare their candidacy for the 2026 primary elections.

Observers of the deeply partisan fight had expected an answer on whether the contested map can be used amid claims that it was racially gerrymandered. Instead, each passing day without a decision likely dampens Democrats’ hopes of stopping Republicans from netting up to five additional seats in the midterms.
