Merely disclosing the existence of a past physician-patient relationship in a lawsuit is insufficient grounds to bring a countersuit against the doctor for invasion of privacy, a Texas intermediary appeals court ruled.
The lawsuit Dr. Violetta Lozovyy filed to collect payment on an unpaid bill revealed no sensitive details about patient Feruza Akhmedjanova medical history, the Dallas-based Court of Appeals, Fifth District said Wednesday, finding the patient didn’t prove Lozovyy “intruded or pried into her private affairs.”
