A physician convicted of health-care fraud and money laundering lost his bid to undo his convictions and sentence, after a federal court in Houston rejected claims he didn’t get a fair trial.
Harcharan Singh Narang said the government improperly raised a codefendant’s guilty plea, that his trial counsel was ineffective, and that the government engaged in misconduct during the trial and at sentencing.
But the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas said he had failed to establish, already raised on direct appeal, or procedurally defaulted on each of his claims.
