Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) might not have to turn over additional communications about the Jan. 6, 2021 attack at the US Capitol, or discussions with the National Rifle Association after the Uvalde school shooting, that a government watchdog group insists they are wrongly withholding, the state supreme court signaled Wednesday.
Some high justices indicated the group, American Oversight, can try to convince a local prosecutor to file a lawsuit to obtain those records but that they can’t go about it alone.
