A Texas lawyer who says the state Republican party wrongly rejected his application to run for a seat on the state’s supreme court secured a temporary restraining order, a temporary victory in his fight to appear on the ballot.
The GOP is prohibited for now from determining the order candidates for that seat appear on the ballot for the March primary, a Travis County judge said in an order Thursday.
The candidate, a city council member in Pflugerville near Austin, is the only potential primary challenger to Justice Brett Busby. The court’s ruling will determine whether Busby runs unopposed.
