Texas’ state-level immigration arrest and deportation law is likely to be blocked again by a federal judge, who said at a Wednesday hearing that he still believes the law encroaches on the federal government’s sole authority to regulate the border.
Senior US District Judge David Ezra said he’d likely let the 2023 law go into effect briefly for the first time on Friday before issuing an opinion in the ensuing days that halts it temporarily as the case plays out.
