Texas Hospital Pays State $10 Million in Child Gender Care Probe

Texas Children’s Hospital will pay the state of Texas $10 million for billing the state’s Medicaid for unlawful gender transition treatments, including by using false billing codes, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced Friday.

The hospital also will establish a clinic to reverse outcomes of gender transition treatments, the first of its kind in the US, to be funded by the hospital and available to patients at no cost for the first five years, Paxton said.

Five doctors that Paxton said “performed harmful medical interventions on Texans,” were fired as part of the agreement.
