The Texas Supreme Court will hear three cases challenging Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order barring local mask mandates during the Covid-19 pandemic, it said Friday.
While local mask mandates are no longer in use, Abbott and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) petitioned the state supreme court for review on these cases because they argue the executive order falls within the scope of authority granted to the governor under the Texas Disaster Act.
