Texas Health-Care Immunity Law’s Application at Stake in Suit

A Texas law that gives health-care providers immunity for certain actions taken during a pandemic is facing an early test in a federal lawsuit seeking damages for a nursing home resident’s Covid-19 death.

It’s one of several suits in which courts around the country are debating the scope of such state provisions and how broadly they should be applied. So far, the shields have been upheld.
