Texas District With Islamic Community Ties Wrongly Annexed Land

A Texas municipal utility district connected to an Islamic residential development facing litigation from the state must halt further actions and roll back its prior moves, a state district court judge ruled.

The district board wrongly annexed 402 acres to facilitate the proposed development, Judge Christine Nowak of the 493rd judicial district said, because its members weren’t properly qualified or appointed.

Nowak’s order following a hearing in Collin County, Texas, came after she said the district admitted its directors were added in violation of state law.
