Three Texas judges facing opponents backed by Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) were defeated in their Republican primary races Tuesday, paving the way for Paxton to follow through on his threat to shake up the state’s highest criminal court.

Court of Criminal Appeals Judges Sharon Keller, Barbara Hervey, and Michelle Slaughter were unable to shrug off attacks from Paxton and his supporters who succeeded in drawing awareness to their downballot races.
