The Texas Supreme Court has authority to make large counties integrate their online case management software with a statewide system, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) determined.
In a non-binding AG opinion issued Wednesday, Paxton rejected a challenge from Tarrant County—home of Fort Worth—saying the statewide database “is at least desirable, if not necessary, for the operation and management of the court system.”
AG opinions don’t carry the force of law, but courts often turn to them as unofficial guidance.
