Texas Child Gender Probe Challenges Now Moot, State Justices Say

Texas’ move to close investigations into reports of three minors using puberty blockers and hormone therapy for the purpose of gender transition means challenges to those probes are now moot, the Texas Supreme Court ruled Friday.

A fourth investigation also is moot because the child is now an adult, the justices said.

The unsigned opinionputs a wrap on lawsuits brought by families after a February 2022 order from Gov. Greg Abbott (R) directing the Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate reports of children using elective procedures for child transitioning.
