A former Texas charter school worker who alleged he was fired because of his race and for reporting alleged mishandling of state and federal funds failed to state a legal claim to move his lawsuit forward.
Deroald Hopkins, a Black man who worked for Wayside Schools as its chief operating officer, alleged he found a discrepancy in financial documents, the court said. He was later terminated for “lack of clear communication and reliable board reporting” and for “submitting an incorrect budget amendment,” the US District Court for the Western District of Texas said.
