Texas Business Court Draws Scant Interest From Judge Candidates

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) recruitment of judges for the state’s new business court is being hamstrung by a profound lack of interest, an early sign of trouble for a system Abbott’s dangling to corporations—like Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc.—thinking about relocating there.

Fourteen candidates have submitted applications for 10 benches, according to a review of appointment applications obtained by Bloomberg Law through a public records request. There’s one applicant for two openings in Fort Worth and just enough candidates for two spots in San Antonio and Dallas.
