Discord Inc., an online video and text hangout, attracts adult predators and makes it easy for them to connect with vulnerable users, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) said in a new lawsuit Friday, the latest in a series of legal problems for the California-based platform.
Citing the sexual assault of a 13-year-old Texas girl by a Discord user, Paxton says the platform lets adults misrepresent their age and requires users to opt into a filter that removes mature content rather than defaulting to that setting.
