Two Texas state agencies agreed to allow for public money to fund religious programs, ending a pair of unusual lawsuits in which state Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) sued his own state.
Paxton reached the deals on the eve of hearings set for Wednesday when the agencies were prepared to ask a state court to dismiss claims that they violated religious liberty protections.
“I applaud these state agencies for taking proactive steps to eliminate any potential discrimination against religious individuals and groups,” Paxton said in a press release Tuesday night.
