Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) filed a lawsuit Wednesday alleging a school district near Dallas unlawfully used public funds to campaign for certain legislative candidates.
Social media posts from the Frisco Independent School District’s Government Affairs department encouraged voters in the March 5 primary to pick candidates who support public schools and who oppose diverting public money to private schools, the lawsuit said.
“Candidates we’re voting for right now will decide whether or not public schools get funded appropriately. Make your voice heard!” said one post from Feb. 20 that was timed with the first day of early voting. ...
