Texas AG Ken Paxton Loses Solicitor General To Private Firm

Texas Solicitor General Judd Stone, a conservative loyalist to the state’s Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, is leaving the agency to focus on his new private law practice.

Stone resigned with another senior lawyer in the office, Chris Hilton, to devote full-time to the firm they launched this summer, as they took leave from the agency to prepare Paxton’s defense in an impeachment trial in the Texas Senate. Paxton, facing removal from office on allegations of bribery and abuse of office, was acquitted on all counts.

An attorney general spokesperson confirmed their departures on Thursday.
