Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a state court lawsuit Wednesday alleging PowerSchool Holdings Inc. negligently failed to protect the personal information of nearly 840,000 students and teachers in a December 2024 data breach.
The school-data management company has been hit with a wave of proposed class actions in federal courts around the country as a result of the breach, which plaintiffs allege affected millions of students. Thirty-two of the suits were transferred to the US District Court for the Southern District of California in April by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
