Texas Abortion Fund Seeks Early Decision in Aiding Provision Row

A group that provides financial and other support for people seeking abortions asked a federal court in Texas to declare unlawful the “aiding and abetting” provision of a state law that bans abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy.

The provision, which permits anyone in the state to sue abortion funds and their donors for a minimum of $10,000, violates procedural due process, equal protection, and First Amendment rights, Stigma Relief Fund and two of its donors said in a motion for summary judgment filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
