Teva Wins Jury Verdict in First Paragard IUD Bellwether Trial

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. won a jury verdict in its favor at the conclusion of the first bellwether trial over claims the company’s Paragard intrauterine contraceptive device was prone to breaking inside people’s bodies.

The trial in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia was the first of three bellwether cases meant to test the claims brought in consolidated, multidistrict litigation involving more than 3,800 lawsuits bringing similar allegations of harm from the IUDs, according to the US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
