Tesla Misled Homeowners on Solar Roof Pricing, New Suit Alleges

A California resident alleged Tesla Inc.'s solar roof products employ a “bait and switch” technique to force homeowners to pay more than a previously agreed-upon price, according to a complaint in federal district court.

Matthew Amans, who sued on behalf of himself and a putative class, said the company advertises the solar product’s affordability as a key feature. But Tesla intentionally advertises a lower estimated price than the final cost, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
