Tesla Infringes Electric Vehicle Charging Patents, Suit Says (1)

Tesla Inc. allegedly infringed two patents related to the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, a new lawsuit says.

Tesla’s charging stations and software for autonomous control infringe Graphite Charging Co.'s innovative electric vehicle charging technology, according to a complaint filed Aug. 4 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

The lawsuit targets Tesla’s network of roughly 20,000 “Superchargers,” one of the most extensive EV charging networks in the country. If found to infringe, Tesla could be on the hook for royalties covering its vast network.
