Tennessee and Kentucky are irreparably harmed by court orders blocking them from enforcing bans on gender-affirming care for minors because they prevent them from protecting minors, the states told an appeals court.
Both states asked the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit on Monday to overturn preliminary injunctions that would allow transgender youth to continue receiving puberty-blocking drugs and hormone therapies to treat gender dysphoria—a severe sense of distress caused by a mismatch between a person’s gender identity and their sex assigned at birth.
