Temu and its parent company are unlawfully collecting users’ sensitive information and deceptively misleading consumers, according to a new lawsuit Thursday from Nebraska’s Republican attorney general.
State AG Michael T. Hilgers says in a complaint that Temu and China-based PDD Holdings Inc. are violating the state’s Consumer Protection Act and Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Hilgers (R) is asking a Nebraska state court to declare the online marketplace and its e-commerce parent company’s practices illegal, enjoin them from further unlawful acts, and order them to pay restitution and civil penalties.
